Review in Word 365 2016 2013 2007 2003

How to review Tracked Changes

When you've created a document and sent it out to your colleagues for editing, you'll probably need to review the tracked changes and decide which to keep and which to jettison.

The Master Document View

Word master document enables you to: cross-reference items among several documents; create indexes, tables of contents, and lists that span several documents; easily assign consistent page numbering, headers, and other formatting across multiple documents; etc.
A book is ideally suited to the master document feature. Each chapter can be a subdocument, and the elements common to the entire book can be contained in the master document itself.

Protecting Word documents

When working with Word documents you often need to limit the changes to the document. E.g., contract form should prohibit changes to the text, while making possible to enter necessary data of the opposite side.

Reviewing comments from the specific reviewer

Sometimes you need to search for a comment or for comments from specific reviewers.

Customizing revision marks

You can easily change an appearance of revision marks in your document. Track Changes dialog box gives you full control on the insertions, deletions, formatting and other revision marks.

Viewing document and readability statistics

Writing simple and easy to understand documents is a unique ability that lays somewhere between art and science. Microsoft Word can help you to improve you writing skills by providing readability statistic metrics.

Displaying Word Count Statistics

Sometimes you need to see a word count statistics without obtaining readability or AutoSummarize information. For example, you might have been given a limit on how many words a document can be for a particular assignment - magazines and newspapers commonly set this type of limit.

Getting to the Point with AutoSummarize

In Word 2010, this feature is no longer used.

View documents side by side

You can easily view two Word documents using View side by side feature. Synchronous scrolling makes it extremely convenient.

Skip spelling and grammar check for the selected text

Sometimes you need to skip parts of the document during a spell check. E.g., memos and letters can have headings and address blocks with names and other text that slow down the spell checker. Blocks of programming code or foreign words should not be checked for spelling too.
Also you may need to quote words and phrases with mistakes.
